Coucou !

La campagne Trevolta bat toujours son plein et on est tous les cinq super heureux et archi émus par les témoignages que nous recevons !

Les fêtes de Noël approchent alors n'hésitez pas à contribuer pour un pote ou mamie : les rewards sont sympas non ?!

Aujourd'hui ce sont Karine, Mélina, Jean-Louis, Manue, Damien, Marie et encore mon cher père qui reçoivent un immense MERCIIIII ! Vous assurez !

A part ça, nous sommes toujours dans le bouclage de notre voyage et nous avons reçu un "cadeau de Noël" sous la forme d'une chouette famille de Toronto !
En effet, nous sommes inscrits sur le site TrocMaison depuis quelques semaines déjà et c'est assez chouette de recevoir des demandes d'échanges du monde entier et de toute la France.

La semaine dernière j'ai pris contact avec une famille de Toronto et nous nous sommes mis d'accord pour un échange au mois de juillet : nous resterons donc à Toronto 4 jours de plus que prévu initialement et eux viendront passer 6 jours chez nous à Nantes pendant leur périple européen ! 

Je suis heureuse d'ajouter Toronto à notre voyage, hâte de découvrir la ville et de me baigner dans le lac Ontario !

J'ai pris contact par ma copine Angie avec la gentille Hélène qui me donne quelques pistes pour l'école à la maison (ou l'instruction c'est selon)... Ça fait réfléchir et bouger un peu les idées reçues. Je vous en reparle très bientôt...

J'ai eu aussi un rendez-vous avec la directrice de l'école de Milan et Fantine qui a accueilli très favorablement notre projet et n'a rien objecté quant à leur réintégration à l'école en janvier 2016 (limite je lui parlais d'un truc ultra courant... !).Tant mieux !
Pour Paul il faudra bien-sûr en avertir son lycée au moment de l'inscription définitive. Mais malgré une moyenne honorable (12.20) sa professeur principale semble remettre en cause son passage en seconde générale... J'avoue que ce système commence à me casser les pieds (version polie), on envoie les "très bons" en classe générale et les autres en techno et pro ? Tu as des difficultés choisis-toi un métier !

The Trevolta campaign is still going on and the five of us are really happy and very touched by all the gestures  we are receiving!

Christmas holidays are coming, so do not hesitate to contribute for a friend or your granny, rewards are nice, aren’t they?

Today we give a big THANK YOU to Karine, Mélina, Jean-Louis, Manue, Damien, Marie and again my dear dad! You rock!

Apart form that, we are still in our trip closure and we have just received a “xmas gift” which looks like a nice family from Toronto!

Actually, we have registrered on the website HomeExchange.com for some weeks now and it’s quite fun to receive offers from all over the world and all over France.

Last week I contacted a family from Toronto and we agreed to exchange our home in july: we’ll stay in Toronto 4 days more than what we planned and they’ll stay 6 days at home in Nantes during their European trip!

I’m happy to add Toronto to our trip, I look forward discovering the city and bathing into the Lake Ontario!

 

Thanks to my friend Angie, I contacted the nice Hélène who gives me some tips about homeschooling… It makes think and moves received ideas. I’ll tell you about it very soon… I also had an appointment with the director of Milan and Fantine’s school, she received it very well and didn’t object them to go back to school in january 2016 (it was like she was used to it) Good for us!

Regarding Paul, we’ll have to tell his school when final registering. But in spite of his results (12,2 out of 20), his main teacher seems to reconsider the passing in academic 10th grade (in France we can choose between academinc and technic degree when we go to high school)... I admit this system is pulling my leg (polite version), “very good” students are sent in the academic section, and the other in the technic section ? If you have difficulties, choose to study for a job right now! Anyway… (anger mode off)

Hello todos !

La campagne Trevolta prend une forme vraiment émouvante dans le sens où nous recevons des petits mots tous plus adorables les uns que les autres de la part d'amis, de parents... on a de très belles surprises aussi... on se dit qu'on est vraiment super gâtés. Paye ta larme.

Un grand MERCI à Charlotte, Karen, Fred, Eloise, Anouck, Fabien, Catherine et Christian !!!

Oui, merci d'être là, d'être vous. Et merci de continuer à partager avec vos connaissances et amis, à mettre des petites étoiles et à la "suivre".

Nous sommes en tête dans le classement des campagnes Trevolta et c'est grâce à vous mes petits chamois d'or  (<<<vas-y Amandine traduis moi ça) !!!

Les préparatifs pour le départ continuent doucement. En ce moment je me renseigne sur l'enseignement à la maison, je lis des blogs de voyageurs en famille, je réfléchis à l'organisation et la pédagogie.

Hier nous sommes allés faire les photos des futurs passeports des enfants.

The Trevolta campaign is taking a really emotionnal shape, meaning we receive so adorable little words from friends, relatives… We also have very nice surprises… We think we are very spoiled. Emotional moment.

Thank you for being here, for being you. And thank you to keep on sharing it with your acquaintances and friends, and to keep on putting stars and following the project on Trevolta.

We are leaders in the list of Trevolta campaigns and this is thanks to you my little golden chamois!!! (‘Chamois d’or’ is a French cheese and also a ski level)

The preparations for the departure are proceeding slowly. At the moment I’m looking for information about homeschooling, I’m reading blog of family travellers, I’m thinking about organisation and teaching methods.

Yesterday we went to take pictures for the kids’ passports.

Emotion / Emotion

Voici (déjà !!!!!!!!!) le premier article de "MERCI" !!!

On était comme des ouf hier quand on a vu le premier backer (contributeur) à savoir notre pote Billou mettre les premiers sous !!!!

Rêve et crowdfunding / Dreams and Crowdfunding

Vous avez été plusieurs à nous le suggérer, comme ça, il y a quelques semaines, quand on se stressait pour savoir comment arriver à aller au bout du rêve : "pourquoi pas ne pas essayer de faire financer une partie de votre projet par un crowfunding spécial voyage ?" 

Le financement participatif, tiens... pourquoi pas en effet... Comment ça marche ? Un internaute (ou une association, un chanteur, une troupe, une future entreprise) explique son projet sur une page, via un site dédié. Les gens qui décident de participer financièrement au projet reçoivent en échange des petites récompenses, selon l'imagination des auteurs... 

Cela permet de financer tout un rêve ou de boucler un budget ! 

C'est comme ça que j'ai déjà participé avec mes petits moyens à deux projets. L'un est déjà fini mais l'autre court encore, jetez-y un oeil :

J'vous vois venir... De notre côté point de délire créatif, pas de vue humanitaire dans notre voyage, point de jeune talent à révéler (quoique...), nada... 

Mais voilà : nous on a juste le projet de découvrir le monde et de faire filmer à nos enfants 6 mois de leur vies (voire un peu plus car les préparatifs seront aussi vu à travers leurs regards) pendant un voyage en Amérique du Nord... Ils auront à disposition une caméra, ils vous montreront tout ce qu'ils veulent (sans censure... juré, craché).

Bref, c'est notre petit rêve à nous.

Nous avons trouvé un site faisant du financement participatif sur le thème des voyages, il s'agit de Trevolta. 

Alors on s'est lancé... On a cogité sur les récompenses, sur le budget qu'on souhaitait atteindre, sur le texte expliquant le projet, sur les supports (vidéos, photos, blog)... On s'est fait aider par notre amie Amandine, traductrice officielle de la famille Tib ! On souhaitait vraiment y impliquer les enfants et je crois que le résultat est pas mal du tout !

Alors vous qui nous lisez, amis, potos, collègues, famille, visiteurs de passage par là et sponsors officiels (!) n'hésitez pas à partagez ce projet un peu fou (en cliquant sur "share" directement sur la page Trevolta) ! Qui sait... un coup de pouce serait le bienvenu !

Many of you suggested it to us, like this, a few weeks ago, as we where getting stressed to know how we could make the dream come true: “why not to try to make a part of our project financed by a crowdfunding site devoted to travel?”

Crowdfunding… why not… How does it works? An internet user (or an association, a singer, a troupe, a company) eplain its project on a page, thanks to a decicated website. People who decide to contribute financially to the project receive in exchange small rewards, depending on the imagination of the authors...

It allows to finance a whole dream or to complete a budget!

In that way I participated with my limited financial means to twp projects. One is already closed, but the other is still open, just have a look:

I can get where you are going... From our side, no crazy creative idea, no humanitarian point of view in our trip, no young talent to reveal (well… actually maybe), nada...

However, our project is to discover the world and to let our children film it during 6 month of there lives (even more since the preparations will be seen through there eyes) during a trip in Northern Amerca… They will have a video camera and they will show you all that they want (without any censorship… cross our hearts!)

Anyway, this is a little dream of ours.

We found a crowdfunded travels website: Trevolta.

So we did it… We thought about the rewards, the budget we needed to reach, we thought about the text that would explain the project, what kind of medium to use (videos, photos, blogs)... We had the help of Amandine, the official translator of the Tib family! We really wanted to involve the children and I think the result is quite nice!

So, you, people who are reading us, friends, buddies, colleagues, family, passing visitors and official sponsors(!), do not hesitate to share this crazy project (by clicking on “share” on the Trevolta page)! Who knows… A little help would be very welcome!

Croquons dans la pomme ! / Let’s bite the apple!

Attention mesdames et messieurs, voici un vrai post, sans blague et avec de vrais infos. Si, si ! Alors que notre situation financière stagne, on a décidé de faire comme si de rien n'était (technique de l’autruche que ça s'appelle) et de garder le cap dans notre organisation. En l’occurrence, on souhaitait en finir avec nos tergiversations new-yorkaises et boucler cette partie de notre projet. Et ainsi donc y voir un peu plus clair sur le début de notre périple.

On peut le dire, c’est chose fait à 95% et on est tellement content qu’on se rue ici pour vous décrire tout ça (enfin moi, je me rue. Par contre je devrais éviter d’employer ce verbe, parce que j’ai aucune idée de comment il se conjugue. Je me rus ? Ru ? Rue ? Avenue ?)

Les faits :

Après 3 petits jours à Montréal histoire de déposer nos 4 tonnes de vivres et matériels et faire un big hug à nos amis Audrey et David, nous devrions arriver à New York, le 2 juillet par le vieux Tchou Tchou de l’Amtrack qui relie Montréal à  Big Apple en 11 toutes petites heures (quand tout va bien et que les douaniers sont bien lunés).

Josandra nous accueillera alors dans son magnifique appartement de Brooklyn dont voici quelques photos histoire de vous donner l’eau à la bouche (enfin si vous aimez les appart de Brooklyn avec des belles cuisines,  des jolies chambres, un super parc pas loin, une top vue, chacun ses goûts quoi).

Nous y resterons jusqu’au 10 juillet, soit 8 nuits. On profitera de cette éloignement relatif du centre névralgique de NY pour faire les visites moins « communes », aller à la plage, se balader plus librement, sans programme.

Ensuite, ah ah ! Scoop ! Changement d’appart ! On remballe nos culottes et T-shirts et on se rapproche de la fourmilière en s’installant dans un magnifique 3 pièces de Manhattan, dans le quartier de Greenwich Village. A priori, ceux qui connaissent devrait faire « Ouh ! Wa ! Punaise ! génial ! ». Les autres ben… faites confiance à ceux qui connaissent ! On a fait le choix du changement d’appart histoire de gagner en rapport temps de séjour/argent/emplacement. C’est des calculs savants, je vous passe les détails vous ne pourriez pas comprendre...

Voici l'appart :

6 nuits au cœur de la ville la plus incroyable du monde. Là, pour le coup, on fera la tournée des grands Ducs, Empire State Building, Statue de la Liberty, MoMa, Starbuck, Ground Zero et j’en passe.

Le programme original qui prévoyait un mois à New York s’est donc réduit comme peau de chagrin. Mais il a fallu faire face aux réalités financières. Mais on est tout de même très très satisfaits de ce planning, car ne rester que 15 jours nous a permis de remettre au goût du jour un périple qu’on avait rayé de nos têtes depuis quelques mois :

En effet, une fois arpenté toutes les Aveniou et les Street de New York, nous reprendrons le train direction… les chutes du Niagara !

Attention, message à destination des personne susceptibles de croiser nos enfants d’ici à notre départ : Ceci est une totale surprise pour eux !! Donc chut ! Non mais vous imaginez leur tête ?? En tout cas nous, on imagine et… si vous voyez nos têtes en imaginant leur tête… Ben regardez vos têtes tiens, en imaginant nos têtes en train d’imaginer leur tête…

Bref, les têtes vues euh… les chutes vues, on restera 2 nuits dans un hôtel que la décence m’empêche de vous montrer puis on continuera notre remonter fantastique vers Montréal en faisant une halte d’une nuit à Toronto, 1ère ville du 2^e plus grand pays du monde abritant la 5e plus grande tour du monde. On montera dedans bien sûr histoire de voir, piouf... le Pérou au moins !

Puis on fera un dernier trajet en train pour rejoindre Montréal, les yeux émerveillés mais pas encore rassasiés. Il nous restera alors un peu plus de 5 mois pour nous fondre dans le paysage québécois.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is a real post, without any joke and with real information. Yes! While our financial situation is stagnating, we have decided to do as if nothing had happened (this is called the ostrich-like approach), to stay in course regarding our organizaiton. Actually, we wanted to put an end to our hesitations about New-york and to complete this part of our project. And in that way we can see more clearly the begining of our trip.

We can say it, it’s done at 95% and we are so happy that we’re rushing here to tell you everything about it!

The facts:

After only 3 days in Montreal, just to drop off our 4 tons of supplies and equipment and to give a big hug to our friends Audrey and David, we will arrive in New york, on July the 2nd by the old choo-choo of the Amtrack which links Montreal to the Big Apple in only 11 hours (when everything goes well and when the custom officials are in a good mood)

Josandra will welcome us in her wonderful apartment in Brooklyn, here are some picture in order to make your mouth water (well if you like Brooklyn apartments with nice kitchens, nice bedrooms, close to a great park, with a nice view, it’s a matter of taste).

We’ll stay there until July the 10th, i.e 8 nights. We’ll enjoy the distance from the effervescent center of NYC to do less common visits, go to the beach, go for a walk more freely, without any program.

Then, ah ah! Scoop! Changing apartment! we pack our underwear and t-shirts and we get closer to the hive of activity settling down in a wonderful 3-room-apartment in Greenwich Village. In theory, those who know should say “Oh Wow! Man! Great!”. The others, uh… trust those who know! We chose to change apartment just to gain in terms of stay duration/money/situation. We made fancy calculations, I won’t give you the details, you may not understand...

Here is the apartment:

6 night in the heart of the most incredible city in the world. There, we’ll do the whole nine yard, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, MoMa, Starbuck, Ground Zero and so on.

The original program, the one where we would stay one month in New York, shrank away. But we had to face the financial reality. And we are very satisfied with this schedule, because staying only 15 days allowed us to bring up to date a trip we removed from our head months ago:

Actually, after strinding along all the Avenues and Streets of New York, we’ll take the train to… the Niagara falls!

Attention, to those who may bump into our children before our departure : This is a total surprise for them!!! So shush! Can you imagine their faces?? We do, we imagine and… if you can see our faces imagining their faces… so look at your faces, imagining our faces imagining their faces…

Anyway, after seeing the faces, em, the falls, we’ll stay 2 nights in a hotel that decency prevents me from showing it to you, then we’ll keep going up to Montreal stoping in Toronto, the first city of the second biggest country in the world where you can find the fifth tallest tower in the world. Of course w’eell climb to the top of it just to see… Peru, at least !

Then we’ll get on the train for the last time to reach Montreal, the eyes full of amazement but not completely satisfied. We’ll have a bit more than 5 months to merge into the landscape of Quebec.
